The CRDS Trace Moisture Analyzer “DewTracer mini CRDS-H₂O,” developed by Shinyei Technology Co., Ltd. through joint research with the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), has been awarded the “Good Design Best 100” in the “Good Design Award 2024,” hosted by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP).
The Good Design Best 100 represents 100 designs selected from all Good Design Award recipients of the year. These are highly evaluated for their overall excellence in aesthetics, innovation, and potential.
In advanced manufacturing fields such as semiconductors and secondary batteries, even trace amounts of moisture can significantly impact product quality and production efficiency, requiring strict moisture control. The “DewTracer mini CRDS-H₂O” achieves a balance between high-speed response, high sensitivity, and high precision for measuring trace moisture in gases, as well as compactness for practical field use. This breakthrough design, realized through industry-academia-government collaboration, has earned high acclaim as an essential tool for next-generation industries, leading to this prestigious award.

Jury’s Evaluation
The large jump, in which the size of the sensor was reduced to 1/10 owing to technological innovation, attracted attention. As a result, the appearance has been reduced to 1/4, the weight has been reduced to 1/3, and the price has been reduced to 1/2. Many problems faced by conventional machines, which were not widely used, have been solved at a high level. Together with technological innovation in terms of size as well as function, it was highly evaluated as the development of an important measuring instrument indispensable for the industry leading the age. In addition, it should not be overlooked that good cooperation with private companies contributes to the realization of high quality in commercialization.

CRDS Trace Moisture Analyzer DewTracer mini CRDS H₂O
The DewTracer mini CRDS-H2O is a trace moisture analyzer for gases that employs CRDS (Cavity Ring Down Spectroscopy) technology using laser-based measurement.
Its proprietary optical design and spectral analysis technology enable unprecedented compactness.
It offers high-sensitivity, high-precision, and rapid measurement of trace moisture in high-purity gases, such as carrier gases and atmospheric gases, within a range of 12 ppbv to 20 ppmv (-100 to -55 °C DP).
